The University of Jamestown had a conference-best 96 spring scholar-athletes, it was awarded to Rachel Perish of Long Prairie and announced by the North Star Athletic Association. In order to qualify for this award, student-athletes must maintain at least a 3.25 grade point average on a 4.0 scale.  
Courtney Ruda of Long Prairie, was recently awarded an occupational training scholarship worth $1,000 from National Catholic Society of Foresters (NCSF), a fraternal life insurance society. Courtney belongs to NCSF’s St. Mary Court 1108 in Long Prairie.  
Local students have earned the distinction of being named to the Dean’s List for the 2015 spring semester at Alexandria Technical & Community College: Jacob Gaida of Browerville; Melissa Pipo, Trish Harlow, Jordyn Hetland, Kymberli Wenzel and Makayla Zetah of Long Prairie.  
The Marcyes/Pentz picnic will be held Sunday, August 2 at Lake Charlotte at 12:30 p.m. This is potluck and everyone should bring their own beverage, dishes and a lawn chair.
